The 2009 season at the Atlas Coal Mine National Historic Site has attracted more mediums and clairvoyants than ever before.  These unique visitors have reported seeing much more than just museum displays around the industrial heritage site.  Common sightings include a former manager, a young man, an accident victim, and a mysterious woman.  These well known ghosts make this haunted industrial heritage site a natural setting for Halloween.  On October 24th, 30th  and 31st the Haunted Atlas Coal Mine will allow visitors to experience the darker side of coal mining.  The special event is divided into two separate offerings, Little Boo and Big Boo. 

Little Boo is a family fun event designed for children and their escorts.  This year Little Boo will feature  a “deadly” train ride as well as a special guest at the top of the tipple.  This event is full of fun and surprise, with scares appropriate to children.  Children can wear their costume, but must be dressed warmly for this outdoor event.

Big Boo is for braver souls, and not recommended for children under 9. A flashlight tour through the dark mine site leads to a fearsome experience in every nook. Visitors are advised to bring a friend…preferably a friend bigger and braver than themselves…and a flashlight.  Everyone should dress for chills.

The Atlas Coal Mine National Historic Site is located in the historic mine community of East Coulee, AB, in the Drumheller badlands.
