Grades 1-9 enjoy cross curriculum-based activities focused on hands-on experiential learning where participants interact with living organisms such as aquatic invertebrates, arthropods, decomposers and plant materials. Spaceport at the Calgary Airport offers entertaining and educational programs for Calgary students

SpacePort has quickly become one of Calgary’s premier sites for school and community groups. We have developed entertaining and educational programs that have garnered rave reviews from teachers and group leaders alike. Developed in collaboration with Science Alberta Foundation and Vancouver’s MacMillan Space Centre, our educational programs are closely tied to the Alberta curriculum and engage students through active participation and hands-on fun.

We offer programs in stageshow and workshop formats, allowing you to mix and combine programs to match your needs. Our Educational Program Director will help tailor the program for your class. Students will also have time to explore our exhibits and displays.

The Military Museums of Calgary, Alberta is the largest tri-service museum in Western Canada

Western History at a Grain Academy & Museum is a good fit for social studies

First Nations people and bison, also known as buffalo, roamed Alberta’s prairies freely until the late 1800s when immigrants from Eastern Canada, United States and Europe began to file homesteads and populate the Canadian prairies.  Learn of their hardships, the importance of community and the establishment of towns and villages.  It is an intriguing story. This program along with many more are offered at the Grain Academy & Museum.

A Calgary teacher comments that the program covered a ton of intormation, a pleasure to learn.  A little gem on Stampede Park.  Shows off agricultre!  Calgary’s best kept secret, the Grain Academy & Museum located on the Plus 15 between the LRT and the BMO Centre at Stampede Park.

Learn from the past at Fort Calgary

At Fort Calgary, our fun, interactive, facilitator-led programs encourage inquiry-based learning and critical thinking about history. We offer programs for students in kindergarten to grade six, as well as in-classroom resource kits for students at all levels. All hands-on programs presented at Fort Calgary’s Interpretive Museum and Learning Centre are linked directly to the Social Studies, Language Arts and Science curriculum.

If you want to explore the museum, book this program! Become a NWMP officer, then role-play a real life Calgary train drama (for younger students only), complete with costumes for each student! Teachers and adult leaders take over as students uncover clues throughout the museum using our scripted scavenger hunt.
