Black Gold: Art, Science, and History Collide

Art, science, and history collide in this program based on the Black Gold Tapestry by Sandra Sawatzky. Explore the deep roots of our relationship with fossil fuels, from ancient prehistory to the beginnings of Alberta’s oil industry. Students will see with their own eyes the 375 million year old coral reefs that became our oil reserves, discover fossils of the creatures that now power our province, and examine the artifacts of our petrochemical pioneers. (Science, Social Studies)
