Confident writers emerge when students build their sensory awareness of the people and places and things around them. Students learn to interpret the world by what they see, hear, smell, taste and feel; these perceptions have the potential to become the fabric of their stories. But the process of fully awakening the senses isn’t something that happens for students simply because they are asked to do so. Students will use art and artifacts within the museum as “jumping off†points and discover a process of deeper questioning to guide their sensory imaginations. (Language Arts)
