Plant CommunitiesrnTopic E: Plant Growth and Change

While hiking one of Kananaskis Country’s interpretive trails, students will become biologists through observing, recording and evaluating the abiotic factors that affect plant growth in a forest and grassland ecosystem. Students will be able to describe and classify common types of plants, recognize that variations in growing conditions affect plant growth and gain an understanding of their importance in the natural environment. Students may also be engaged in a stewardship project of pulling invasive plants.
