About This Program

Embark on a wild adventure of knowledge as we dive into the captivating world of animal behaviour and the scientific method in our interactive workshop!

In this engaging session, fifth and sixth-grade students will unleash their inner animal whisperer by honing their observation skills and decoding the secret language of cats and dogs. Hosted by the dynamic team from the City of Calgary's Animal Care and Pet Licensing department, our workshop combines education, entertainment, and essential life skills. Developed by certified teachers seasoned in creating a blend of fun and education, the workshop guides students through the scientific method. Through hands-on activities and real-world examples, young minds will discover animals' cues to communicate. Get ready to observe, infer and unleash your scientific superpowers! Highlights of the workshop: Scientific Method Exploration - Delve into the exciting world of the scientific method with a focus on animal behaviour. It's not just about facts; it's about paws-on experience! Animal Antics Adventure- Witness the wacky and wonderful world of animal antics. Decode the mystery behind tail wags, purrs, and barks! Technology and Tails - Discover how scientists use technology to gather evidence. Unleash your inner detective and become a technology-savvy animal communicator. Experiential Learning - Our workshop is crafted for active minds! Students actively explore, engage, and apply their newfound knowledge to navigate real-life animal behaviour scenarios. By the end of our session, students will be equipped to decipher animal communication, confidently navigate tricky situations, and provide evidence to support their chosen actions.
