About This Program

We are bringing our museum experience on the road! Our travelling presentations include the opportunity to handle authentic museum artifacts and hear the stories of the people who have made aerospace technology what it is today. This educational program is geared towards those who face barriers in coming to the museum, such as those who cannot travel due to mobility difficulties.

We currently offer three exciting themes for our Silver Darts travelling exhibits: Our World War II – The Lancaster exhibit honours the brave men and women who flew and maintained one of the most celebrated planes of the time, the Avro Lancaster. This program can be tailored to focus on the empowering contributions of Canadian women to the war effort. The History of Commercial Aviation – Memories of Flight exhibit explores the inception and development of the aviation industry, focusing on the middle of the 20th century. With a diverse collection of artifacts, this exhibit brings the experience of flying in the 50s, 60s, 70s and beyond to life . Our Early Bush Planes and Pilots – A New Frontier exhibit asks participants to imagine the harsh conditions, uncertain terrain, and extreme loneliness that defined the lives of the first bush pilots. It also delves into the surprising role that bush aviation played in the development of navigation technologies and postal service across Canada.
