About This Program

Students learn about the Elbow River ecosystem and make Alberta curriculum connections along the way.

Students learn about the Elbow River ecosystem and the plants and animals that live there. They discover the impact human activities have on water and in turn the life that depends on them. Through grade appropriate activities, students meet curricular connections. Activities are site, weather and grade dependent but include pond dips, drawings, Elbow river mapping activity, build a beaver and a web of life game.

What to Expect

Students should be prepared to walk 5-7km at the Weaselhead. They should wear weather appropriate clothing and footwear including layers and close toed shoes. Bring lots of water and snacks for a full day outside!
