About This Program

Students learn what invasive plants are, why it matters and what they can do to stop the spread. Program is designed to meet curricular connections in grades 7 and 9.

Students in grade 7 and 9 are guided through activities designed to help them identify native vs. invasive plants. They will learn why invasive plants matter and what actions can be taken to prevent their spread on the landscape. They will also participate directly in invasive plant removal in the park so come prepared to do work!

What to Expect

Programs at the Weaselhead are completely outdoors, there is no indoor facility. Depending on where the workshop is conducted, bathrooms may not be accessible once the program has started. Students should come prepared to engage in physical work to remove invasive plants and dress appropriately for the conditions including close toed shoes, layers and sunscreen. Participants are expected to physically remove plants and will be provided with all the tools and instruction needed.
